|The Park Square was a gift to the City of Paola by Baptiste Peoria, one of the city’s founders, with the provision that no building be built upon it. In the center of our Historic Park Square you will find a picturesque fountain and an enchanting Victorian Gazebo. The original Gazebo was actually a Bandstand, and it was built in 1867. The current Gazebo was designed by architect, George Washburn, and completed in 1913. The Park Square with the Gazebo is the landmark symbol of Paola and is located at the southeaset corner of Peoria and Silver Streets.
